AI Amplifies Team Collaboration
15th March 2026
With AI agents enabling software developers to produce code faster, collaboration becomes more important than ever. Both with the agents through prompts but also with collagues.
In the same way agents amplify a developer's ability, they amplify an organisation's culture. Friction between teams becomes more apparent and poor information flow reduces the productivity gains AI provides.
The hardest part of software engineering has alwas been creating the right thing. The human accountability for that remains through an organisation's responsibility for ensuring the software they deliver meets users' needs, works, and is maintable.
With the ability to produce functionality faster, there is less time for thinking, and the points in an organisation's software engineering process where teams collaborate need to happen more frequently. (This is bad news if you like coding by yourself and hate meetings.)
Being organised is essential - a one week delay involving a stakeholder in the context of work that takes two weeks is much more impactful than if same work would have taken a month.
Ron Westrum's Generative Culture is aptly named for Generative AI.
